Job summary

nVent in Solon, OH is seeking a hardworking assembler to join our manufacturing team. You will diagnose and solve root problems to keep production flowing and operate heavy-duty equipment according to blueprints and process sheets.

You must be comfortable with reading drawings, using micrometers and calipers, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in a fast-paced environment. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and adherence to 5S standards.

Qualifications

• Experience assembling mechanical parts into a finished product
• Proven experience of strong trouble shooting and problem-solving skills
• Strong troubleshooting skills necessary, with the ability to make informed decisions.
• Good organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment and meet operational deadlines. Must be self-motivated, safety and quality conscious, and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes
• Experience following work instructions or reading blueprints
• Experience in using hand and power tools
• Prior experience working in a light industrial facility preferred
• Heavy lifting required (up to 50lbs).
• Lift truck operator experience recommended

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and solve root problems to ensure production flow is maintained.
• Demonstrates flexibility by performing rotational assignments as needed.
• Adheres to department 5S standards daily. Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Maintains equipment and materials necessary to complete the operation.
• Meets established safety, quality, performance standards to ensure production schedules are met.
• Records accurate information on Manufacturing Order and performs transactions necessary to maintain accurate records and inventory balances.
• Complies with all applicable safety procedures, quality specifications, and 5S Standards. Reports adverse conditions, non-conforming products/procedures, and 5S violations to department leader in accordance to escalation procedure.
• Sets up and operates heavy-duty power equipment to bend, form, stretch and straighten a variety of products / materials such as plates, extrusions, structural shapes, etc. as specified by blueprints, layout, and templates.
• Perform duties required to assist setup and operate multipleautomatic and/or multi-slide equipment perform simultaneous processes for a variety of products.
• Ability to understand and work from drawings, order / route sheets, schedules, written, and verbal instructions.
• Check material for correct size, type, identification, configuration and color.
• Assist with set-up of dies, movable and stationary equipment, forming blocks, adjust stroke and feed as needed.
• Competent use micrometers, calipers, scales, tape measures, calculators and fixed gauges to check work in process and ensure adherence to specifications.
• Move materials in the performance of duties using pallet jack, lift truck or crane (if PIT qualified) as necessary.
• Install and check safety devices as needed for specific jobs.Report faulty equipment, defective material and unusual conditions to supervisor or other appropriate resources.
• Observe and adhere to all prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or directed, which may require more than the normal shift hours or work week to meet company needs.
