Job description

Responsible for a team assigned to the cell for the preparation, production, and/or packaging of blend material. In addition to the base responsibilities of a Manufacturing Operator I, the employee must specialize in one or more of four specialty roles: 1) Blend Specialist, 2) Packaging Specialist, 3) Weight Room Specialist, and/or 4) Sanitation Specialist.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities (not restrictive)

  • Effectively read, understand, and extract vital information from detailed batch records in written and electronic forms. Utilize this information to execute proper work instructions using the DQS system.
  • Screen, blend, and package a variety of amino acids, vitamins, and minerals, including allergenic substances.
  • Operate and monitor all processing equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Operate equipment including prep, cleaning, and minor repairs.
  • Ensure proper cleaning, blending, packaging, and material inspection per SOPs.
  • Report equipment issues or damage to your supervisor.
  • Perform retention sampling on products in sterile conditions.
  • Maintain regular attendance, which is an essential function of this position.

Additional Functions

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Must specialize in one or more of the four roles: 1) Blend Specialist, 2) Packaging Specialist, 3) Weight Room Specialist, and/or 4) Sanitation Specialist.

  • Blend Specialist
    • Operate equipment such as blenders, screeners, mills, forklifts, magnets, packaging equipment, metal detectors, etc., including prep, cleaning, operation, and minor repairs like replacing seals and disassembling/assembling chopper blades.
    • Have working knowledge of four or more blenders.
  • Weight Room Specialist
    • Prepare blends and follow procedures to produce final products.
    • Coordinate down pack of distribution orders daily.
    • Handle R&D lab sample requests.
  • Packaging Specialist
    • Operate automated and semi-automated packaging lines independently.
  • Sanitation Specialist

Qualification & Experience Requirements

Education, Training:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Forklift training and certification.

Experience Required:

  • At least one year of manufacturing experience as a Machine Technician.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Complete Manufacturing Operator I Assessment successfully.
  • Work with amino acids, vitamins, chemicals, including allergenic products.
  • Follow directions and SOPs.
  • Work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends on short notice.
  • Read and understand the DQS system.
  • Knowledge of production documentation, weigh room, and DQS system.

Language, Computer & Numeracy:

  • Strong command of English (verbal and written).
  • Basic computer skills: MS Excel, Word, DQS, SAP.
