Job summary

Hood Industries, Inc. in Beaumont, MS is seeking a Manufacturing Operations Supervisor to lead operations across multiple departments and shifts within our plywood mill.

This role offers mentoring from various levels of management and a hands-on environment to develop strong leadership. You will supervise production schedules, coordinate material flow, maintain equipment, enforce safety and quality standards, and contribute to reports.

Qualifications

  • Must have manufacturing experience; wood products preferred.
  • 1-2 years of supervisory or team lead experience.
  • Ability to work multiple shifts and weekends.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise operations within multiple departments and shifts, coordinating schedules, budgets, and material flow.
  • Collaborate with other supervisors to meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Maintain machinery and work areas, coordinate preventive maintenance and updates.
  • Promote safe work practices and participate in safety checks and investigations.
  • Assist with new hire orientations, coaching, and training of employees.
  • Prepare operating reports and maintain records (attendance, production, quality tests).

This position offers mentoring from various levels of management throughout the organization. Hood Industries, Inc. is a blend of wood manufacturing and distribution concerns that include plywood and lumber manufacturing plants, and twenty-three specialty wood product distribution operations, located in fifteen states serving the northeast, southeast and southwest United States.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise operations within multiple departments and shifts at thehighest practical efficiency. This includes working with employees andmanagement to develop production schedules, budgets, and to coordinate movement of material in and out of the work area. Resolve operating,scheduling, and production issues as needed.
  • Work with other department supervisors to ensure operations meet quality standards andproductspecifications.
  • Work with other department supervisors to ensure machinery, equipment, and work areas aremaintained properly. Work with maintenance to coordinate preventativemaintenance, expedite repairs, and schedule equipment updates, additions, and/or replacements.
  • Work with other department supervisors to ensure work is carried out in a safe manner and that allareas are free of work hazards. Ensurethat company safety policies and practicesarefollowed by employees. Set personal example by observing all safe work practices andparticipate in safety checks, audits, and investigations.
  • Participate in new hire orientations, employee training, ongoing coaching, andreinforcement to employees.Observe and apply all Hood human resources,safety, and related policies.
  • Participate in creating required operating reports (e.g. work hours, productionlevels, quality testing, etc.). Participate in maintaining appropriate and requiredoperating, regulatory, and human resources records, includingattendance logsvia KRONOS, preventative and corrective maintenance via Guardian, and production reports via LumberTrax.

Education/Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree is a plus.
  • Previous manufacturing experience required. Prior wood products experiencepreferred.
  • 1-2 years of supervisory or team lead experience.
  • Knowledge of Internet, Excel, and Word.
  • General knowledge of OSHA standards.
  • Ability to work with a diverse workforce.
  • Must be able to work multiple shifts and weekends.

Salary Range: $54,000 - $80,000
