Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Use tools to safely repair and maintain production equipment.
• Repair/replace motor control circuits, valves, drives, and related devices.
• Inspect machinery to detect irregularities and malfunctions.
• Program VFDs and troubleshoot PLCs with Allen Bradley software.
• Monitor spare parts inventories and reorder as needed.
• Operate a forklift or rolling stock occasionally.
• Communicate with co-workers and management on maintenance issues.
• Review plant equipment to minimize downtime and identify improvements.
• Lead projects that improve efficiency or reduce costs.
• Maintain safety and environmental policies; support safety requests.
• Additional plant operations duties as assigned.

Hood Industries, Inc. is a blend of wood manufacturing and distribution concerns that include plywood, lumber manufacturing plants, and twenty-three specialty wood product distribution operations, located in fifteen states serving northeast, southeast, and southwest United States.

Purpose:

We are looking for an Industrial Electrician for our Plywood manufacturing operation in Beaumont, MS. The primary purpose of the position is to provide electrical maintenance support for our mill and to safely ensure all production-related equipment is in good working order and functioning properly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Use all proper and necessary tools to safely repair and maintain production/manufacturing equipment.
• Repairs/replaces motor control circuits, pneumatic valves & cylinders, hydraulic valves and cylinder relay circuits, DC & AC drives, limit & proximity switches, and other field devices. Experience with conduit bending and wiring motors.
• Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and find irregularities and malfunctions.
• Works with programming of VFD, Allen Bradley software and ability to troubleshoot PLC’s.
• Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, electrical supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.
• Operates a forklift or other rolling stock on occasion.
• Communicate regularly with co-workers and management to ensure good two-way communication concerning electrical/maintenance issues.
• Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Implements projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
• Maintains safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures. Responds to repair and modification requests from the Safety Committee and/or Safety Manager.
• May also have additional responsibilities related to the operations of the plant, as assigned.

Testing Requirements:

Job Preferences/Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of three years of electrical experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrate basic computer skills and experience using a computer for recordkeeping and documentation.
• Willing and able to work any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Willing and able to work in a hot, cold, noisy, industrial environment.
• Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to 12 hours per day.
• Willing and able to pull and lift to 50 lbs.

Pay Range: $24.76 - $35.63
