Stellantis is seeking a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer - Tool Engineer- UPE to participate in an Engineering team developing and launching processes that meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives for NM, NNM, and adaptation programs. The role spans North America powertrain battery tray/frame, casting, components, engine, and transmission projects.

The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and deployment of advanced problem-solving methods to drive improvements

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 3+ years in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong oral, written, presentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to translate technical data into executive summaries.
  • Ability to embrace cross-functional teams developing manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of advanced problem-solving, data analysis, root cause, and cost studies.
  • Microsoft Office intermediate or advanced knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Assess process changes and investment requirements for cost studies.
  • Define engineering scope, RFQs, sourcing, technical evaluations, design and installation of air/mist/coolant collectors and filtration.
  • Support NM/NNM powertrain programs and ensure on-time, within-budget completion.
  • Support NM facilities, site preparation and machine installation.
  • Track scope, timing, and cost across programs.
  • Implement SIS methodology and SPW tools and root-cause problem solving methods.
  • Develop/improve facilities standards related to engineering infrastructure.
  • Coordinate plants across regions and maintain relationships with Global CoC initiatives.
  • Drive standardization across plants in all regions.

Job description

Main responsibilities include
  • Perform assessments for process changes and related investment requirements for cost studies
  • Understand engineering scope definition, Requests for Quotes (RFQ's), sourcing, technical evaluations, design, manufacturing, and installation of air/mist/coolant collectors and filtration
  • Support and prioritize the Non-New Model (NNM) powertrain programs requests and ensure that approved programs are completed on time and within budget
  • Support all New Model (NM) program's facilities aspects including site preparation and machine installation
  • Support flow activities on programs ensuring successful implementation and tracking of the Iron Triangle (Scope, Timing, and Cost)
  • Participate in the implementation of Stellantis Industrial System (SIS) methodology, supporting all activities including deployment of advanced SPW tools and guide systematic root cause problem solving methods to attack risks
  • Development/improvement of process and equipment standards related to facilities infrastructure
  • Manufacturing Plants located in Dundee, Michigan (MI), Trenton, Michigan (MI), Kokomo, Indiana (IN) and Saltillo, Mexico (MX); Transmission Plants in Kokomo and Tipton, Indiana (IN); Casting Plants in Kokomo, Indiana (IN) and Etobicoke, Ontario (ON), Toledo, Ohio (OH), while maintaining a relationship with the Global CoC initiatives
  • Drive standardization across plants in all regions
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED and THREE (3) years of experience in engineering or a related technical field
  • Ability to work and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong oral, written, presentation and organizational skills
  • Ability to translate technical data and analysis into an executive summary format for presentation in easily understandable formats
  • Ability to embrace cross-functional teams responsible for developing, specifying, building, and launching powertrain manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of advanced problem-solving skills and ability to manage data analysis to identify root causes and attack them to closure
  • Knowledge of cost studies and strategic planning
  • Microsoft Office intermediate or advance knowledge
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or technical equivalent
  • Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Preferred FIVE (5) or more years of manufacturing experience, Powertrain Manufacturing experience a plus
  • Preferred FIVE (5) or more years' experience in program management or multi-tasking environment

The primary role of the Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer - Tool Engineer- UPE is to participate within an Engineering team to develop and launch processes that meet all objectives for safety, quality, delivery, and cost for both new model (NM), non-new model (NNM), and adaptation programs.

This position supports all Manufacturing Engineering functions for North America powertrain battery tray/frame, casting, components, engine, and transmission programs.
