Job summary

Stellantis in Kokomo, IN is seeking a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer to collaborate with the Engineering team to develop and launch processes that meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals for NM, NNM, and adaptation programs across powertrain components and assemblies.

You will travel 21–40% and support facilities, machine installations, and standardization efforts across multiple plants in North America and beyond, aligning with SPW and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High school degree or GED with 3 years of engineering experience.
  • Ability to communicate and present to all organizational levels.
  • Ability to translate technical data and analysis into an executive summary format.
  • Experience embracing cross-functional teams responsible for developing, specifying, building, and launching powertrain manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assess options for process changes and investment cost studies.
  • Understand RFQs, sourcing, design, manufacturing, and installation of air/mist/coolant collectors and filtration.
  • Support and prioritize NNM powertrain programs to meet schedule and budget.
  • Support NM facilities including site prep and machine installation.
  • Track and drive the Iron Triangle across programs (Scope, Timing, Cost).
  • Contribute to Stellantis Production Way deployment and root cause problem solving.

Job description

The primary role of the Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer is to work with the Engineering team to develop and launch processes that meet all objectives for safety, quality, delivery, and cost for both new model (NM), non-new model (NNM), and adaptation programs. This role supports all Manufacturing Engineering functions for North America powertrain battery tray/frame, casting, components, engine and transmission programs. Must be able to travel 21%-40%.

Responsibilities
  • Perform assessments for process changes and related investment requirements for cost studies
  • Understand engineering scope definition, Requests for Quotes (RFQ's), sourcing, technical evaluations, design, manufacturing, and installation of air/mist/coolant collectors and filtration
  • Support and prioritize the Non-New Model (NNM) powertrain programs requests and ensure that approved programs are completed on time and within budget
  • Support all New Model (NM) program's facilities aspects including site preparation and machine installation
  • Support flow activities on programs ensuring successful implementation and tracking of the Iron Triangle (Scope, Timing, and Cost)
  • Participate in the implementation of Stellantis Production Way (SPW) methodology, supporting all activities including deployment of advanced SPW tools and guide systematic root cause problem solving methods to attack risks
  • Development/improvement of process and equipment standards related to facilities infrastructure
  • Support the Engine, Transmission, e-components (Electric Drive Module, Motors) or Chassis (Battery Tray, Cradles, Cross Car Beams) Manufacturing Plants located in Dundee, Michigan (MI), Trenton, Michigan (MI), Kokomo, Indiana (IN) and Saltillo, Mexico (MX); Transmission Plants in Kokomo and Tipton, Indiana (IN); Casting Plants in Kokomo, Indiana (IN) and Etobicoke, Ontario (ON), Toledo, Ohio (OH), while maintaining a relationship with the Global CoC initiatives
  • Drive standardization across plants in all regions
Basic Qualifications
  • High school degree or GED and 3 years of experience in engineering or a related technical field
  • Ability to work and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong oral, written, presentation and organizational skills
  • Ability to translate technical data and analysis into an executive summary format for presentation in easily understandable formats
  • Ability to embrace cross-functional teams responsible for developing, specifying, building, and launching powertrain manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of advanced problem-solving skills and ability to manage data analysis to identify root causes and attack them to closure
  • Knowledge of cost studies and strategic planning
  • Microsoft Office intermediate or advance knowledge
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or technical equivalent
  • Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Preferred 5 or more years manufacturing experience, Powertrain Manufacturing experience a plus
  • Preferred 5 or more years' experience in program management or multi-tasking environment
