Job summary

Alliance Steel, Inc. is seeking a Purchasing & Materials Coordinator to support procurement and material coordination for manufacturing and project operations.

You will work with Detailing, Engineering, Production, Sales, and Estimating to gather requirements, obtain pricing, issue POs, and track deliveries. The role ensures materials are available to meet production schedules, maintains purchasing records, and supports inventory planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, finance, accounting, construction management, or related field.
• Experience in purchasing, procurement, materials planning, inventory management, or supply chain operations.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, filters, lookups, data analysis).
• Experience in manufacturing, steel fabrication, or construction environments preferred.
• Strong organizational, negotiation, and vendor management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Review material requirement reports and ERP planning reports to support purchasing activities.
• Gather and organize material requirements from Detailing, Engineering, Sales, and Production.
• Create and manage purchase orders for structural steel, building components, shop supplies, and maintenance items.
• Follow up with suppliers to monitor order status and on-time delivery.
• Obtain supplier quotations and assist with pricing for estimating and planning.
• Maintain relationships with suppliers and coordinate pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules.
• Coordinate with Production, Sales, Engineering, and Estimating to ensure materials are available when needed.
• Maintain item records, vendor information, and purchasing documentation in the ERP system.
• Prepare purchasing, inventory, usage, and open-order reports as requested.
• Maintain records related to purchasing activities, supplier information, and inventory planning.
• Assist with planning material purchases and inventory replenishment for production.
• Track material pricing and maintain current purchasing information for estimating.
