Job summary

Career Crunch is seeking a highly organized coordinator to support structural steel fabrication by preparing material orders, verifying production files, and coordinating workflow between detailing, purchasing, and the shop. This fast-paced role requires accuracy, urgency, and accountability to manage costs and schedules.

Key responsibilities include releasing POs, nesting plate parts with ProNest, and ensuring BOM integrity to prevent downstream issues.

Qualifications

• Ability to read structural steel drawings and shop drawings.
• Experience in material takeoffs and BOM preparation.
• Experience negotiating vendor pricing for competitive costs.
• Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking ability.
• Clear communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare material orders using shop drawings and bills of material.
• Solicit pricing from multiple vendors and evaluate quotations for accuracy.
• Release purchase orders and track material to ensure timely delivery.
• Ensure orders and files are accurate to prevent downstream errors.
• Nest plate CAD files to maximize material yield and provide to production.
• Review .nc1 files for main beams and members for accuracy.
• Nest angle parts using spreadsheet-based systems.
• Track stock material quantities to support production needs.
• Create and maintain fabrication checklists for main members, parts, and columns.
• Organize and prepare digital files for shop processing equipment.
• Coordinate with project managers, detailers, and shop staff to maintain workflow.
• Track incoming material against BOMs to ensure accuracy.
• Prepare and release work in a timely manner to prevent delays.
