This role will support the Professional Tools business at RIDGID Products in Orange, VA, which proudly produces RIDGID brand drain cleaning machines, cables, and tubing cutters. In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be

  • Lead production supervisors (currently 3 on 1 st shift, 1 on 2 nd shift, and 2 on 3 rd shift); manufacturing departments include assembly for drain cleaning equipment and tubing cutters, painting, machining, and cable winding.
  • Support Emerson’s target culture of inclusion.
  • Lead all aspects of the safety of all manufacturing employees and drive a strong safety culture.
  • Partner with the Quality Manager to drive a strong focus on product quality.
  • Run productivity through continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, training, accountability for DL efficiency, and reduced indirect labor.
  • Be directly responsible for 5S by driving proper focus and a culture geared towards 5S.
  • Drive strong focus and awareness regarding on-time delivery and monthly sales goals.
  • Develop standardized work for improved training and control of our manufacturing processes.
  • The core work schedule is a minimum of 6:30 – 3:30 to support all 3 shifts (1 st shift starts at 7:00 and 2 nd shift starts at 3:00). Weekend coverage may also be needed when there is Saturday or (rare) Sunday production.

Who You Are

You report to the Plant Manager and lead a team of supervisors on 3 shifts. You improve the success of our manufacturing processes by partnering with other department heads to ensure strong safety, quality, productivity, and 5S. You establish clear responsibilities and processes for supervising work and measuring results. You form diverse teams to create a mix of styles, perspectives, and experiences. You optimally communicate in various settings: one-on-one, in small and large groups, or among diverse styles and position levels. You carefully consider all relevant factors and use appropriate decision-making criteria and principles.

For This Role, You Will Need

  • 2- or 4-year college education preferred, ideally in an engineering or technical field of study – or equivalent experience
  • Strong leadership and people skills.
  • Must be a strong teammate.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and project management skills
  • Positive demeanor dedicated to achieving results
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • A logical mentality with strong problem-solving skills
  • Good computer skills

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart

  • Proven experience with manufacturing leadership and lean principles
  • Ideally 5+ years of experience in manufacturing
