Description

Summer Garden Food is a leading Food Manufacturing plant who are the makers of Gia Russa and G Hughes. We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician for our plant who has a strong background working in manufacturing plants with hands-on experience with machines. Electrical knowledge, including entry-level PLC and welding, is strongly preferred. We are looking to fill a position on 2nd shift, Monday through Friday.

Position Summary

Maintain, repair, and install equipment within the manufacturing plant as needed. Perform preventative maintenance to keep machines and equipment in good working order. Keep equipment in operating condition for the production of products. Assist facilities and production in producing a high-quality product.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain & Repair Equipment:
  • Observe, train, and create safety procedures as needed.
  • Execute diversified duties to maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment safely.
  • Perform maintenance tasks that include mechanical, electrical, welding, troubleshooting, and repair of production machines.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems to make unscheduled or emergency repairs during production runs.
  • Test equipment and make adjustments.
  • Repair, replace, or modify machines or equipment to improve performance.
  • Use a variety of tools and equipment to ensure proper maintenance of machines.
  • Create instructions on proper maintenance procedures.
  • Locate replacement parts using existing plant systems.
  • Report daily maintenance activities.
• Preventative Maintenance:
  • Use a checklist to perform regular preventive maintenance tasks on production and facilities equipment.
  • Dismantle and reassemble machines to test damaged parts and mark defective areas.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Create or modify existing checklists to improve machine performance.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report any unusual situations to proper supervision.
  • Bench test or prepare components for installation.
• Mentor and Assist:
  • Utilize experience to provide direction and potential solutions to Level 1 & 2 Technicians on resolving issues and maintaining/repairing equipment.
• Facilities Maintenance:
  • Assist with maintenance of the facility as needed.
  • Create and maintain documentation of information.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
• Equipment Installs:
  • Oversee the installation of equipment within the plant as needed.
  • Assist with planning and selecting new equipment.
• Plant Operations:
  • Assist with maintaining the production schedule and compliance with safety and quality documentation.
• All other necessary duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• Skilled Trade School Degree focused in Maintenance and/or a minimum of 10 years working experience performing maintenance technician duties at a manufacturing facility.
• Strong technical capacity and familiarity with mechanical and electrical controls.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot.
• Advanced understanding of variable frequency drives and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and strong communication skills.
• Regularly required to talk, hear, and see; manual dexterity; reach with hands and arms.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Required to be very active, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
• Capability to climb above and below machines and work on ladders including scaffolds.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move items over 70 pounds.
