Job summary

Catapult Employers Association in New London, NC is seeking a Manufacturing Maintenance Technician to support equipment reliability and production operations in a fast-paced facility.

You will perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment, troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC controlled systems, and help minimize downtime while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification preferred.
  • 3+ years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with automated machinery and computerized production equipment.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, drives, conveyors, and industrial controls.
  • Ability to interpret equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS systems preferred.
  • Basic PLC troubleshooting preferred.
  • Welding, fabrication, and machining experience a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and production systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC-controlled equipment to identify and resolve issues.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and production interruptions to minimize downtime.
  • Inspect machinery and equipment to identify wear, damage, or potential failures.
  • Repair and replace motors, bearings, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, sensors, valves, and other industrial components.
  • Assist with machine installations, upgrades, and process improvement projects.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and repair documentation.
  • Support root cause analysis efforts and recommend corrective actions to improve equipment reliability.
  • Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with production personnel to optimize equipment performance and production efficiency.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards within maintenance work areas.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, throughput, and cost reduction.

Schedule: 12 and 8-Hour Shifts available

Compensation: Tech I: $20-$25, Tech II: $25-$30 and Senior Tech: $30 and up

About The Opportunity

A well-established manufacturing organization is seeking a skilled and hands‑on Manufacturing Maintenance Technician to support equipment reliability and production operations in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining automated production equipment, minimizing downtime, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the facility.

The ideal candidate will have experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial machinery in a continuous manufacturing environment.

Position Overview

The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and completing repairs on production machinery and facility systems. This role works closely with production leadership and operators to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and production systems
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC-controlled equipment to identify and resolve issues efficiently
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and production interruptions to minimize downtime

  • Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, plastics, extrusion, chemical, or processing environment
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working with automated machinery and computerized production equipment
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, drives, conveyors, and industrial controls
  • Ability to interpret equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS systems preferred
  • Basic PLC troubleshooting experience preferred
  • Welding, fabrication, and machining experience is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a team-oriented manufacturing culture

  • Ability to safely use tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment
  • Ability to work around operating industrial machinery
