Job Description

Overview

A Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.

Your Role at Prestone

1. Demonstrate safety as the number one priority, address safety issues promptly, perform lock out tag out, and proper use of PPE.
2. Perform routine checks on all equipment and take proper action as required.
3. Complete fabrication of parts, guards, etc., as needed.
4. Troubleshoot AC/DC electrical components (up to 480VAC 3 Phase), including motor starters, PLC logic, switches, and sensors, using basic test equipment such as multimeters and amp probes.
5. Perform mechanical repairs on all production equipment, including case machines, trimmers, blow molders, extruders, conveyors, case erectors/packers, and palletizers.
6. Troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul equipment within close tolerances.
7. Handle line changeovers as required.
8. Maintain plant safety, GMP cleanliness, and overall housekeeping throughout the plant.

Required Experience and Skills

• Working knowledge of mechanical systems.
• Troubleshooting complex problems.
• Attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with personnel at all levels.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 7 years as a maintenance mechanic/technician in a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing facility.
• Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Electrical/PLC background required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds periodically.
• Frequent lifting, bending, twisting, and standing during shifts.
• Reaching with both hands/arms.
• Ability to visually inspect products.
• Climbing ladders on machinery.
• Utilizing power hand tools.
