Job summary

Vorteqcoil in Woodstock, IL is seeking a skilled maintenance technician for the second shift (2:00pm–10:00pm). You will operate and maintain industrial machinery, perform preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems to minimize downtime.

The role requires a High School Diploma and prior field experience. You must read schematics and manuals, use measuring tools, and uphold safety and quality standards. Comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities are provided.

Responsibilities

• Ensure operation of machinery and equipment via preventive maintenance.
• Troubleshoot engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyors per manuals and specs.
• Locate sources of problems by observing machinery operation and using testing instruments.
• Remove defective parts using hoists, cranes and tools.
• Inspect parts with calipers and micrometers to ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Adjust devices and control instruments with hand tools and levels.
• Monitor downtime and enforce preventive maintenance.
• Fabricate repair parts with machine shop equipment.
• Manage inventory of parts and supplies and place orders as needed.
• Provide maintenance information and report on maintenance activities.
• Maintain technical knowledge via workshops and publications.
• Document actions and communicate needs to teams.
• Maintain safe, clean workplace and comply with regulations.
• Contribute to team efforts as needed.

Job description

Essential Responsibilities

• Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance.
• requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Troubleshoot- Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
• Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
• Controls downtime by conducting routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
• Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
• Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
• Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
• Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
• Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
• Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Experience / Education

• High School Diploma
• Prior field related experience
• Ability to pass required company tests; required to maintain and show proficiency during probationary training

• Previous experience in electrical engineering or other related fields
• Familiarity with electrical schematics, blueprints, and manuals

• Welding and cutting skills preferred
