Job summary

Harden Architectural Security Products, LLC is seeking a Manufacturing & Logistics Technician to support warehouse, transportation, CNC machining, and production operations in Lancaster, PA. You will safely operate a 20-foot flatbed truck and forklift, perform general warehouse duties, and provide backup for CNC programming and shipping activities.

The role requires reading engineering prints, basic math, and adherence to safety standards. A DOT medical card is preferred or obtainable.

Responsibilities

  • Backup shipping/receiving: verify quantities, enter data in SAGE, prepare loads and documentation.
  • Backup CNC programming and operation: set up and run CNC machining center and saw; perform basic maintenance.
  • General manufacturing support: perform production tasks, operate grinders and tools, monitor quality.

Reporting to the Shipping & Logistics Manager, the Manufacturing & Logistics Technician is a flexible, cross-functional shop-floor position responsible for supporting warehouse, transportation, shipping and receiving, CNC machining, and general manufacturing operations based on daily business needs. The position's primary responsibilities include safely operating the company's 20-foot straight flatbed truck and fork truck, performing general warehouse and material-handling work, and providing backup support for shipping and receiving activities. The technician will also serve as a backup CNC programmer/operator and assist with general production work as assigned. When assigned to CNC operations, the technician will safely set up, program, operate, and perform routine maintenance on the aluminum CNC machining center and aluminum saw and inspect completed parts for compliance with engineering specifications. The technician will take functional direction from the supervisor responsible for the assigned work area.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Cross-Functional Operations Support
  • Float between warehouse, transportation, shipping and receiving, CNC machining, and general production assignments based on operational priorities.
  • Take direction from the Shipping & Logistics Manager and the supervisor responsible for the assigned work area.
  • Work effectively to meet productivity requirements while maintaining company safety and quality standards.
  • Complete all required production, receiving, shipping, inspection, transportation, and equipment documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with managers, supervisors, and production team members regarding equipment problems, shipment status, material shortages, quality concerns, or other issues affecting operations.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and accident-free work areas and promptly identify and communicate safety risks or concerns.
Truck Driving and Warehouse Support
  • Safely operate the company's 20-foot straight flatbed truck and ensure that the truck and associated equipment are in proper condition for safe and legal operation.
  • Promptly report identified vehicle, equipment, loading, or material-handling problems to the appropriate manager.
  • Safely operate a fork truck in the warehouse and while loading or unloading trucks, trailers, and other transport vehicles.
  • Perform general warehouse work, including moving, staging, organizing, loading, and unloading materials.
  • Assist with moving incoming materials to receiving, inspection, storage, or production areas and staging completed products, crates, and other materials for shipment.
Backup Shipping and Receiving Support
  • Verify that quantities of received materials accurately reflect the applicable purchase order.
  • Enter received materials into SAGE and update the applicable receiving batch.
  • Coordinate the handoff of received materials for pre-production inspection.
  • Consult the production schedule and SAGE to determine the completion status of materials awaiting shipment.
  • Assist with obtaining shipment quotes and coordinating containers or transportation, as assigned by the Shipping & Logistics Manager.
  • Assemble and stage completed crates according to the production schedule and prepare loads for shipment.
  • Create or assist with creating load reports for shipments.
  • Compare packing lists with company sales orders and verify that the products included in each shipment match the packing list.
  • Affix the packing list to the shipment, assist with sealing it, and load the finished products onto the scheduled transportation upon arrival.
  • Compile and distribute required shipping documents, including packing lists, freight bills, shipment photographs, certificates of origin, and other documents applicable to the shipment.
  • Coordinate with the Shipping & Logistics Manager, Project Manager, Production Scheduler, Supply Chain Manager, and production personnel as needed.
  • Complete shipping documents and shipment transactions using the company computer system.
Backup CNC Programming and Operation
  • Safely set up and operate the aluminum CNC machining center and aluminum saw.
  • Program and set up the machining center based on engineering prints and production requirements, and set up the saw for assigned production work.
  • Perform routine maintenance on the CNC machining center and the aluminum saw.
  • Confirm that manufacturing equipment and tools function properly to produce parts to engineering specifications.
  • Read and interpret engineering prints, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Inspect completed parts to verify compliance with engineering prints and specifications.
  • Complete required process and inspection documentation and communicate equipment, programming, quality, or production issues to the appropriate supervisor.
General Manufacturing Support
  • Perform general production and manual-labor tasks as assigned.
  • Safely operate grinders, sanders, and other applicable hand and power tools.
  • Assist with loading raw materials into production areas and inspect materials and finished products for visible defects.
  • Communicate identified quality concerns to the appropriate supervisor or experienced production team member.
  • Assist production employees with multiple tasks throughout the manufacturing environment and support other departments during employee absences, production surges, or other operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a current DOT physical card.
  • Basic machine operation and mechanical skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Working knowledge of, or ability to become proficient in, SAGE MFG 100.
  • Working knowledge of, or ability to become proficient in, Microsoft Office, StarShip, and other required company systems.
  • Ability to safely operate a fork truck and other assigned material-handling equipment.
  • Ability to read engineering prints and understand dimensions and tolerances.
  • Ability to program, set up, and operate the company's aluminum CNC machining center after receiving required training.
  • Ability to follow established receiving, shipping, and shipment-documentation procedures, including company procedures relating to domestic and international shipments.
  • Ability to learn new equipment, software, processes, and job responsibilities and adjust to changing operational priorities.
  • Ability to complete all required process, receiving, shipping, and inspection documentation accurately.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and work within a team environment.
  • Ability to follow all Harden policies and procedures regarding safety and quality.

Physical Environment:

This position functions in a live production environment for a majority of the workday. Depending on the assigned responsibilities, work may require extended periods of standing, walking, sitting, driving, keyboarding, and using the hands and arms to operate tools, machinery, vehicles, and material-handling equipment. The employee must be able to walk throughout the production floor, warehouse, shipping areas, and other areas of the manufacturing facility. The position requires good physical fitness and an understanding of appropriate lifting techniques, material-handling practices, and tool safety. The employee may be required to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion. Excellent vision, with or without correction, is required. The production environment has moderate-to-high noise levels associated with metal fabrication, production machinery, welding, vehicles, construction equipment, and plant-maintenance activities.
