Job summary

Optimal is seeking an Instructional Systems Designer - Manufacturing to craft practical, performance-focused learning for plant floors. You will design, develop, and deploy diverse training experiences—WBT, ILT, VILT, and job aids—aligned to safety, quality, and productivity initiatives.

You will partner with SMEs and leaders, manage multiple projects, and ensure content translates complex operations into effective learning solutions. Hybrid onsite 3 days/week with potential remote consideration.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in instructional design/eLearning, including manufacturing or technical environments.
• 2+ years supporting plant operations, launches, or shop-floor capability building.
• Experience designing web-based training (WBT) and instructor-led training (ILT) with blended solutions such as VILT and job aids.
• Strong knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning theory.
• Proficiency with Articulate (Storyline & Rise), Vyond, and video/design software; excellent communication.

Responsibilities

• Advise partners on adult learning principles and performance-based strategies.
• Conduct needs analyses to identify performance gaps and recommend interventions.
• Collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to validate learning needs and operational realities.
• Design and develop learning experiences using ADDIE, SAM, and rapid prototyping.
• Create multi-modal assets (eLearning, ILT/VILT, videos, job aids) for manufacturing learners.
• Develop objectives, assessments, and success criteria aligned to plant goals.
• Support project management, timelines, and LMS integration.
