Job description

Title: Laminator

Department: Production

Job Description: The Laminator is responsible for the preparation, assembly, and lamination of materials used in Aerospace, Medical, and Commercial products. This position requires strict adherence to customer specifications, work instructions, quality standards, and safety requirements. The Laminator performs material preparation, adhesive application, lamination, inspection, and documentation activities while maintaining product traceability and compliance with company procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Receive production orders, travelers, work instructions, and job assignments from the Production Manager.
  • Verify that all required raw materials, components, tooling, and documentation are correct prior to beginning production.
  • Review job travelers, specifications, drawings, and work instructions to ensure compliance with customer and company requirements.
  • Laminate multiple layers of materials onto liners, substrates, films, foams, adhesives, or other specified materials according to engineering and customer specifications.
  • Measure, align, position, and assemble materials to specified dimensions and tolerances.
  • Apply primers, catalysts, adhesives, and other materials in accordance with work instructions and safety requirements.
  • Mix catalysts, primers, and bonding agents as required and accurately document lot numbers and batch information when applicable.
  • Operate hand tools, rollers, squeegees, cutting devices, laminating equipment, and measuring instruments safely and effectively.
  • Remove wrinkles, air bubbles, and surface imperfections to ensure product quality and appearance.
  • Perform proof pulls, first-piece inspections, and in-process inspections to verify material placement, adhesion, and overall product conformity.
  • Trim and cut laminated materials to required dimensions using shears, knives, cutters, or other approved tools.
  • Inspect completed products for defects including wrinkles, contamination, delamination, bubbles, misalignment, dimensional inaccuracies, and cosmetic imperfections.
  • Maintain continuous monitoring of product quality throughout the manufacturing process and promptly report non-conforming conditions.
  • Record production data, material lot numbers, quantities produced, inspection results, and other required information on job travelers and production records.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with housekeeping, safety, and 5S standards.
  • Properly handle, store, and dispose of chemicals and materials in accordance with company procedures and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Work with Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Production personnel to resolve product or process issues.
  • Meet established production goals while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Participate in training programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of manufacturing experience; laminating, converting, composites, aerospace, medical device, adhesive, or related manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, job travelers, specifications, and written instructions.
  • Ability to read and accurately use a ruler, tape measure, and other measuring devices.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and measurement conversions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to maintain accurate production and quality records.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required to meet production demands.
  • Experience working in ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485, FDA-regulated, or similarly controlled manufacturing environments is preferred.
