Job summary

Viracon LLC in Owatonna, MN seeks Manufacturing Engineering Interns for 2027 to gain hands-on experience in a real manufacturing environment. You will work with engineering and production teams on real projects and spend significant time on the manufacturing floor.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a Bachelor's in Manufacturing/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering with a 3.0+ GPA, and possess strong problem-solving and communication skills, plus an eagerness to learn and contribute to lean initiatives.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Sophomore, Junior, or Senior standing at the time of the internship.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Interest in manufacturing and hands-on engineering work.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside manufacturing engineers and production teams on real projects.
• Spend time on the manufacturing floor learning processes, equipment, and operations.
• Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.
• Assist with troubleshooting and resolving manufacturing issues.
• Collect and analyze production data.
• Support process improvement, equipment, tooling, and layout projects.
• Assist with time studies, process documentation, and work instructions.
• Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Help implement engineering solutions and see projects through to completion.

Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour

About the Internship

Viracon is seeking Manufacturing Engineering Interns for 2027 who are currently pursuing an engineering degree and want a hands‑on experience in a real manufacturing environment.

This internship provides hands‑on lab and production experience, mentorship from industry experts, and the opportunity to contribute to the next generation of Viracon products. Interns will work closely with engineering and production teams and spend significant time on the manufacturing floor.

What You'll Do

• Sophomore, Junior, or Senior standing at the time of the internship
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Interest in manufacturing and hands‑on engineering work
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work effectively with engineering, production, maintenance, and quality teams
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment and spending time on the production floor
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take initiative
