Job summary

The Rogers Group is seeking a Manufacturing Intern to support welding and fabrication activities in Clare, MI. This part-time role involves reading blueprints, assembling components, and maintaining a safe, efficient work area on the shop floor.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on welding experience, familiarity with AWS standards, and a foundational understanding of metallurgy and quality control. Excellent teamwork and reliability are essential as part of a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

• Experience welding in an industrial or educational setting.
• Familiarity with AWS welding certification standards.
• Knowledge of metallurgy and material properties related to welding.
• Experience with quality control and inspection techniques.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe, clean and organized work area.
• Perform welding/fabrication tasks using MIG, TIG, and arc welding under supervision.
• Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to accurately assemble components.
• Inspect welded joints for quality and adherence to specifications, identifying and correcting defects.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all safety protocols and proper equipment handling.
• Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Additional duties may be assigned as required.

Summary:

The Material Handler provides support to the production associates by receiving, dispensing, and accurately maintaining inventory in the vertical storage units and on the shop floor.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• Previous hands-on experience with welding equipment in an industrial or educational setting.
• Familiarity with welding certifications such as AWS (American Welding Society) standards.
• Knowledge of metallurgy and material properties related to welding.
• Experience with quality control and inspection techniques.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Ability to read, analyze and interpret the English language.
• Associate must have the ability to communicate internally and externally effectively and efficiently.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Frequent use of hands that comes with the use of tools.
• Agility of the upper and lower body extremities with the ability to reach, crouch, kneel, or stoop.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Capable of lifting 50 pounds without assistance.

Additional Job Information:

The environment is active and fast-paced, with fabrication and production operating throughout the day. Expect a mix of physical activity and equipment use, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and carts to move materials and keep operations flowing.
