Job summary

Talascend is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer for a contract role in Warren, Michigan to develop high-quality learning solutions for manufacturing environments.

You will design and deliver multi-modal training (eLearning, ILT/VILT, videos, simulations) using ADDIE, SAM, rapid prototyping, and scenario-based learning while collaborating with SMEs, plant leaders, and stakeholders to validate learning needs and ensure alignment with operations.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of instructional design experience in manufacturing, engineering, operations, or quality environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years supporting plant operations, manufacturing launches, or shop-floor capability building.
• Experience designing web-based training (WBT) and instructor-led training (ILT), including blended solutions.
• Strong understanding of instructional design and adult learning theory.

Responsibilities

• Advise manufacturing partners and SMEs on adult learning principles and performance-based strategies.
• Conduct needs analyses to identify performance gaps and recommend targeted interventions.
• Collaborate with SMEs and leaders to validate learning needs and understand operational realities.
• Design and develop engaging learning experiences using ADDIE, SAM, rapid prototyping, and scenario-based learning.
• Create multi-modal learning assets including eLearning, ILT/VILT materials, videos, workshops, simulations, and job aids.
• Write or refine instructional materials, facilitator guides, scripts, and communications translating technical concepts into learning content.
• Collaborate with teams and manage projects using agile approaches to streamline development.
• Support LMS setup and integration of learning materials.
