Job summary

Jefferson Wells is seeking a detail-oriented General Ledger (GL) Accountant to join our client’s finance team in Ashburn, VA. The role focuses on month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations and intercompany transactions in a manufacturing and inventory-driven environment.

This contract position requires 3+ years of accounting experience, a Bachelor’s in Accounting, strong US GAAP knowledge, and proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or NetSuite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• Solid understanding of US GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Experience with inventory accounting and cost accounting preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).

Responsibilities

• Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met and accuracy is maintained.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments in accordance with GAAP.
• Perform general ledger account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Handle intercompany transactions and reconciliations across multiple entities.
• Support inventory accounting, including COGS analysis, inventory valuation, and cycle count adjustments.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and operations teams to ensure accurate reporting of production costs and inventory levels.
• Assist in financial audits by providing necessary documentation and support.
• Contribute to process improvements and ensure internal controls are followed.
