Job summary

Gerdau North America is seeking an Operations Accounting Supervisor to partner with Downstream Operations and Commercial teams, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and insightful analysis across multiple manufacturing locations.

You will lead cost accounting, budgeting, and forecasting, support SOX compliance and audits, and guide accounting resources while collaborating with operations leaders to drive financial performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution.
• CPA, CMA or other professional accounting designation preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years accounting experience with cost accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
• Experience working with inventory accounting, internal controls, and financial analysis.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build effective relationships and partner with stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with IFRS, including inventory, payroll, operating expenses, and capital expenditures.
• Prepare, analyze, and interpret monthly financial results, forecasts, and budgets, providing recommendations to improve business performance.
• Monitor and analyze variances between actual, budgeted, and forecasted results.
• Develop, maintain, and strengthen internal controls while supporting SOX compliance and external audit requirements.
• Partner closely with operations leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with company policies related to inventory management, production reporting, revenue recognition, procurement, and payment processes.
• Support the annual planning and forecasting process.
• Prepare financial reports and presentations using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other reporting tools.
• Collaborate with corporate accounting, tax, audit, and operations teams to ensure alignment and consistency across the organization.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and leadership to accounting resources supporting downstream operations.
• Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives as needed.
