Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician II plays a key role in mechanical, optical, and electrical inspection, testing, and troubleshooting of incoming instruments, parts, and components. This position is responsible for identifying systemic failures, improving vendor performance, and developing test fixtures. It also requires a strong hands-on approach to problem-solving, engineering analysis, and training Associates to optimize manufacturing efficiency.
Essential Functions
- Inspect & Evaluate electro-mechanical components using standard test procedures.
- Troubleshoot & Resolve systemic failures through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Set Up & Test equipment, download software, and perform reliability and performance assessments.
- Repair & Rework non-conforming materials and assemblies.
- Collaborate & Improve manufacturing processes, defect reduction, and vendor quality enhancements.
- Support & Train calibration, testing for new products, and Associate training.
- Interpret & Apply CAD drawings, wiring schematics, and engineering instructions.
- Document & Maintain test results, serial numbers, and compliance with SOPs.
- Assist & Enhance Quality Assurance (QA) and management in continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree in Electro-Engineering Technology or related field with 2+ years of electromechanical testing and troubleshooting.
- OR Vocational/Trade School training with 2 years of relevant electronics experience.
- Preferred: IPC Standard Certification, soldering certification, circuit troubleshooting, ISO standards, and Lean Manufacturing experience.
