Job summary

Trane Technologies in Kentwood, MI is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to support quality and manufacturing engineering processes, develop production documents, and drive process improvements on the shop floor.

You will create and review work instructions, ensure equipment runs at full capacity, apply Lean tools like RIEs and 9-Step Problem Solving, and contribute to reducing nonconformance while supporting prototyping and production tear downs.

Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD processes preferred.
  • Familiar with Lean philosophy.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use computer systems (Email, Internet, Word, MRP).
  • Knowledge of production and inspection tools and their application to engineering requirements desirable.
  • Ability to read and comprehend safety rules, operating instructions and blueprints/drawings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Self-motivated and able to adjust priorities.
  • Willing to participate in continuous learning opportunities.

  • Document downtime and develop root cause analyses for preventive and predictive programs.

Where is the work: On-Site (5 days)

What's in it for you: The Manufacturing Engineering Technician position supports quality and manufacturing engineering processes, which includes development of production documents, improvement of processes, maintenance, and elimination of nonconformance. What you will do: Create and review work instructions and other standard work documentation to support line function. Ensure equipment is working at full capacity, and producing quality output. Leverage Lean philosophy to troubleshoot production process issues and develop improvements. Support Lean initiatives, such as: RIEs, JDIs, 9-Step Problem Solving, and/or additional initiatives as required. Support elimination of internal and supplier nonconformance. Support improved field reliability initiatives and quality issue resolution. Support prototype builds and production tear downs as required. Perform tests as directed by Design/Product & Manufacturing Engineering in support of component approval or nonconformance elimination. Verify product conformance to documented requirements. Use Quality performance metrics to drive improvement. Document down time, lost production, mean time between repairs and develop root cause failure analysis reports in order to review and revamp existing preventive and predictive programs for the equipment.

What you will bring: Experience with CAD processes preferred. Familiar with utilizing Lean philosophy. Knowledgeable of and able to utilize computer system (i.e., Email, Internet, Microsoft Word Suite, MRP). Knowledge of production and inspections tools, techniques and their application to engineering requirements desirable. Read and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, blueprints, drawings, etc. Strong interpersonal skills and able to interact positively and work in a team environment. Self-motivated and willing to change priorities as needed. Willing to participate in continuous learning opportunities for personal and job development.

Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range: $24.76 Compensation Type: Hourly Incentive Eligible: No Sales Commission Eligible: No Disclaimer: We strive to provide competitive compensation for this position, tailored to a variety of factors. Our compensation range is generally based on the national average for the country.
