We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor.
How You Will Contribute
At all times act in a manner consistent with the Douglas Dynamics culture. Lead, coach and mentor engineering staff to successfully complete product development and operations projects as assigned by the engineering manager. Develop the skills of the engineering team to ensure best practices are followed and shared.

How You'll Make a Difference
- Provide leadership, coaching, work prioritization, and supervision to staff
- Contributing member of the Engineering Leadership Team.
- Evaluate team members and create individual development and training plans that meet company and team member goals.
- Create timelines and project plans as required to meet project deadlines.
- Work with operations to develop manufacturing plans, job instructions and standards of work.
- Work with product engineers using the New Product Development process to design and create fixturing / tools for manufacturing.
- Understand fully all product costing / margins and manage appropriately when making improvements and developing fixtures / business units.
- Manage robot specialists, manufacturing technicians and quality technicians to improve productivity and reliability of fixtures, parts and processes.
- Manage the facility maintenance supervisor to ensure all tasks, preventive / predictive maintenance, and ground / facilities maintenance is completed.
- Manage core team responsibilities as assigned.
- Lead meetings as required to communicate project and team status.
- Assign and monitor work to ensure it is accurate and meets DD standards.
- Create SolidWorks models and drawings as required.
- Understand DDMS principles and use them to improve processes.
- Follow Douglas Dynamics rules regarding work and conduct.
- Work in a safe manner and report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
Required Experience
WHAT THIS ROLE NEEDS:
- Core team member or project leader on projects or previous project management experience
- 3-7 years engineering work history with increasing level of responsibilities including supervision
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
Communication: Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing. Sound interpersonal and leadership skills at different organization levels
Computer Skills: Working knowledge of SolidWorks preferred, Microsoft office suite, ERP software
Reasoning Ability: Solve practical problems and understand technical problems involving known variables in non-standard situations
Other: Travel (up to 10%) to other plants, customer locations and trade shows is expected.
