Job Description

Supervisory Responsibility:

Lead a team of approximately 10 people. Manage staff assignments to projects, develop team member skills, create progression plans, conduct performance reviews, and provide growth opportunities, recognition, and rewards. Monitor and facilitate training, mentoring, and onboarding. Handle hiring and termination within the discipline. Manage employee performance, including annual reviews.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Oversee project deliverables to meet objectives and ensure technical performance standards.
  • Manage acquisition, repair, and maintenance of tools, molds, and handling equipment, coordinating with other departments or locations as needed.
  • Review department documents to ensure compliance with standards and best practices, including drawings, specifications, plans, reports, and design reviews.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor improved project processes, tools, metrics, and skills to enhance product launches.
  • Provide weekly reports on project and organizational status.
  • Distribute and enforce policies and guidance from Senior Management.
  • Manage area goals, objectives, and key performance indicators, making adjustments as needed.
  • Attend leadership training sessions such as Leadership Essentials and supervisor classes.
  • Hold regular meetings with the team to facilitate communication.
  • Provide training and develop standard operating procedures for the department.
  • Mentor engineers and technicians in best practices.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Four-year degree in an Engineering field from an accredited college, such as Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience supporting manufacturing or product development.

Proficiencies/Skills/Abilities:

  • Leadership: Ability to develop and work within high-performing teams; strong team player and customer focus.
  • Design Skills: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, principles, and production of technical plans and drawings.
  • Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality control, including Lean Manufacturing.
  • Communication: Effective at all organizational levels, with strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Organization: Skilled in coordinating efforts, organizing, prioritizing, and supervising diverse teams.
  • Project Management: Capable of driving projects to completion with clear scope, schedule, and resource management.
  • Problem Solving: Analytical skills to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Composure: Ability to handle escalations and critical issues calmly and productively.
  • Financial: Budget management and cost control skills.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office; CAD skills in Creo preferred; knowledge of ERP and MES systems is a plus.
  • Quality: Attention to detail, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Professionalism: Respectful, responsible, and ethical conduct.
  • Attendance/Punctuality: Reliable with good attendance and punctuality.
  • Dependability: Responsive to management, diligent, and flexible with hours.
  • Language: Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
