Job summary
Smurfit Westrock is seeking Manufacturing Engineering & Operations Interns for Summer 2027 across multiple U.S. locations.
Interns will work with experienced engineers to solve real manufacturing challenges, improve processes, and drive operational excellence while contributing to sustainability and innovation initiatives. You’ll engage in hands‑on projects that enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity, and gain exposure to maintenance, data analysis, and cross‑functional
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor's or master's degree program in engineering.
- Majors include Electrical, Industrial & Systems, Materials Science/Engineering, Mechanical, Packaging Science/Engineering, or related.
Responsibilities
- Support safety, quality, efficiency, reliability, and productivity initiatives.
- Analyze operational data to identify trends and opportunities.
- Participate in process improvement, cost savings, sustainability projects.
- Assist in troubleshooting equipment and process challenges.
- Support preventive and reliability-focused maintenance.
- Develop and present project findings to leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Promote a strong safety culture by adhering to safety standards.
- Contribute to day-to-day operations while managing project work.
