Job summary

Ilocatum seeks a Director of Manufacturing Engineering to lead manufacturing engineering, CNC programming, digital manufacturing, and NPI. This hands-on leadership role guides complex aerospace components from drawings through first-article acceptance to production launch.

You will drive readiness, shorten NPI lead times, and build a high-performing technical team. You will shape a long-term digital manufacturing strategy across facilities, strengthening programming standards and verification.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace, industrial engineering, or related technical discipline.
At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in aerospace, defense, precision machining, or advanced manufacturing with technical leadership.
Strong practical expertise in CATIA manufacturing and CAM workflows, including production programming and machining process development.
Experience with VERICUT or equivalent NC verification and machine simulation tools.
Demonstrated experience leading NPI, first-article activities, manufacturing readiness, or production launches for complex metallic components.
Advanced understanding of CNC machining, multi-axis process development, tooling, fixtures, and controlled program release.
Knowledge of GD&T, CMM inspection, on-machine probing, special processes, and AS9100 environments.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities with customer deadlines, material constraints, and machine capacity.
Strong communication skills to work with operators, programmers, customers, and leadership.
Eligibility to access export-controlled data and work within required controlled environment.

Responsibilities

Lead manufacturing engineering, CNC programming, and supporting technical resources.
Translate customer drawings and models into production-ready processes.
Guide multi-axis milling/turning strategies for aerospace components.
Establish CATIA CAM standards and postprocessor practices.
Strengthen CNC verification using VERICUT and accurate machine models.
Improve cycle times, setups, and machine utilization while maintaining quality.
Lead NPI activities from design transfer to production launch.
Prioritize projects based on commitments, material availability, and risk.
Coordinate programming, tooling, fixtures, and inspection planning during material lead times.
Reduce scrap and risk through simulations and corrective actions.
Evaluate additive manufacturing for fixtures and surrogate parts.
