Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Position Summary

The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing manufacturing development processes, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives throughout production operations. This role works cross-functionally with operations, quality, program management, and production teams to develop, validate, and improve manufacturing methods while maintaining adherence to quality standards, customer specifications, and internal procedures.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized and detail-oriented manufacturing professional with strong technical process knowledge, experience interpreting engineering documentation, and the ability to lead quality investigations and corrective actions in a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage reviews of manufacturing methods and process flow.
  • Manage timely development of manufacturing methods to meet customer requirements and internal objectives.
  • Set CNC programming strategy to ensure production at or below quoted budget, establishment of realistic and achievable estimated processing times, enablement of maximum multiple machine operations per machinist, drive to 100% deburr on machine, and other strategic objectives as determined to meet business objectives.
  • Development and deployment of standard operating procedures for programming methods.
  • Management of External CNC Programming Resources.
  • Interpret customer-supplied engineering documentation to develop both internal and external manufacturing processes.
  • Verify manufacturing readiness prior to production release including documentation, tooling, fixturing, machine selection, operation sequencing, estimated process times, and forecasted profitability.
  • Support the Inspection Team in development of inspection plans to include the alignment of CMM programs with machining approach, location and method of capturing customer required measurements to include on/at machine manual inspections, data capture and final CMM reports.
  • Lead Pre-launch reviews to ensure all jobs are engineered to meet or exceed quoted costs.
  • Review customer-supplied engineering drawings, models, and specifications to ensure manufacturability and process compliance and ensure clarity on customer intent.
  • Ensure all customer quality requirements are incorporated into manufacturing plans including FAI, APQP, and inspection requirements.
  • Identify and communicate engineering concerns with Management to ensure timely resolution.
  • Review actual production timing and sequencing following job completion and update documentation for future quoting accuracy.
  • Manage and approve consumable and durable tooling spend.
  • Support investigation and resolution of quality non-conformances internally and externally.
  • Support RCCA activities and develop control plans where required.
  • Provide technical support, communication, and training related to quality issues and process improvements.
  • Provide annual reviews and actionable development plans for direct reports.
  • Hold team members accountable for performance, attendance, quality, and compliance expectations.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO standards, internal quality systems, and training requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing process and engineering experience.
  • Experience within precision machining or manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with quality systems, manufacturing documentation, and process development strongly preferred.
  • Authorized to work on US Defense projects.
