Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager leads the manufacturing engineering organization and is accountable for manufacturing processes, equipment, technical standards, and engineering resources. This individual will lead process development and industrialization, improve manufacturing efficiency and quality, build production capacity, and deliver productivity and cost-reduction initiatives.
As a key member of the management team, this leader will work closely with Operations and other cross-functional groups to improve manufacturing performance in a high-mix, high-volume production environment and support the organization’s long-term growth.
What You'll Do
- Lead, coach, and develop the manufacturing engineering team while establishing clear priorities, project plans, timelines, and performance expectations
- Manage the engineering project portfolio and hold the team accountable for schedule, budget, technical quality, and results
- Improve manufacturing processes, equipment, controls, and overall technical capabilities
- Establish technical standards, design reviews, documentation requirements, and equipment acceptance criteria
- Identify and implement automation opportunities that improve productivity, process consistency, capacity, and labor efficiency
- Lead new-product introduction, process development, capacity planning, validation, and transition into sustained production
- Partner with equipment suppliers and automation vendors to develop and implement manufacturing solutions
- Define vendor requirements, evaluate proposals, lead technical reviews, and manage vendor performance, cost, timing, and deliverables
- Manage department resources, budgets, capital requests, and project spending
- Establish and use manufacturing metrics to drive improvements in scrap, rework, cycle time, downtime, productivity, and project execution
- Use manufacturing data and structured problem-solving methodologies to identify root causes, improve processes, and sustain results
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and other departments to achieve manufacturing and business objectives
What Sets You Apart
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related engineering discipline; MBA preferred
- Manufacturing leadership experience with the ability to lead, develop, and hold an engineering team accountable for results
- Strong manufacturing engineering background with experience improving processes, equipment, and production performance
- Strong understanding of process validation, process capability, root-cause analysis, Lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement
- Experience implementing automation, equipment, or other manufacturing technology
- Ability to use manufacturing data and metrics to identify problems, improve processes, and sustain results
- Working knowledge of ERP systems, routings, bills of material, capacity planning, and cost estimating
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CAD software; CATIA experience preferred
- Strong leadership, project management, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to establish priorities, develop people, hold teams accountable, and drive results
- Leadership potential and the desire to grow into broader engineering, operational, and executive management responsibilities
