Job summary

ABB in Albuquerque, NM, is seeking an engineering intern to gain practical experience through diverse projects focused on improving manufacturing processes and equipment. You will design fixtures, tooling, and high-voltage test apparatus while supporting cross-functional teams onsite.

Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited U.S. engineering degree program and be within 50 miles of the office. Eligibility for US work authorization without sponsorship is required.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• Intern must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
• Ability to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions.
• Ability to manage several tasks at once while maintaining quality.
• Experience with Creo, SolidWorks, or other parametric 3D modeling software preferred.
• Experience with robotics systems, ABB robotics experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering teams through hands-on project work focused on improving manufacturing processes, equipment, and production efficiency.
• Design and develop assembly fixtures, tooling, and rubber molding devices for manufacturing applications (Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering students).
• Assist with the design and development of electrical test equipment and apparatus used for production high-voltage testing (Electrical Engineering students).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process improvements, troubleshoot technical challenges, and implement solutions.
• Document designs, test results, and project outcomes while presenting findings to engineering and operations teams.
