Job summary

Allegion is offering a Summer Intern position in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering in Carmel, IN. The role focuses on improving manufacturing processes, automating controls, and validating electronics systems while supporting data analytics and digital manufacturing initiatives.

You will gain practical experience in safety improvements, quality, and productivity enhancements. Qualified candidates are expected to be pursuing an engineering or technology degree, with a minimum of the 2nd year.

Qualifications

• Preference for completion of at least the 2nd year in engineering or technology studies.
• Engineering or technology degree programs are preferred for this internship.

Responsibilities

• Participate in process improvement; analyze existing processes; develop and test solutions; validate results; create technical documentation, work instructions, and SOPs.
• Assist in developing, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLCs, HMIs, and related control systems used for machine automation, monitoring, and data acquisition.
• Support the testing, validation, and deployment of electronic systems and components to ensure performance, reliability, and design compliance.
• Contribute to evaluation, design, and implementation of automation solutions by collaborating with engineering teams to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
• Utilize data analysis tools, AI technologies, and predictive analytics to support manufacturing operations; assist with data collection, visualization, interpretation, and development of digital tools.
• Support implementation, commissioning, and optimization of AGVs, robotics, vision systems and other smart manufacturing equipment.
• Assist in development, evaluation, and standardization of new/existing technologies across manufacturing processes for consistency and scalability.
• Work closely with operations, maintenance, quality and engineering teams to identify challenges, troubleshoot equipment issues, and drive continuous improvement.
