Job summary

Butcher Power Products in California is seeking a Director of Manufacturing Engineering to lead hands-on process design and improve line layouts for switchboard and switchgear products, ensuring repeatable, efficient manufacturing aligned with product engineering.

You will own process strategies, mentor engineers, lead PFMEA reviews, and partner with Quality, Production and Planning to deliver reliable production processes and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in manufacturing/industrial/mechanical engineering.
• 8+ years of progressive process engineering experience with hands-on work.
• SolidWorks for process docs, line layouts; CAD tooling a plus.
• Lead PFMEA, control plans, SPC, and process capability (Cpk).
• Strong Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement knowledge.
• Experience hiring and mentoring manufacturing engineers/technicians.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems, especially D365.

Responsibilities

• Design, document, and improve processes, routings, work instructions, and layouts.
• Lead PFMEA reviews and set standards for process quality and rigor.
• Mentor engineers/technicians in problem solving, tooling, and DFM.
• Lead manufacturing engineering team including hiring and workload balance.
• Partner with Product Engineering for manufacturability feedback during design reviews.
• Drive Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen to improve throughput and cost.
• Plan capital equipment, tooling, and automation investments.
• Own NPI process development for new designs.
• Ensure compliance with UL 891, NEC, and ANSI standards.
