Job summary

Magna International in Piedmont, SC is seeking a manufacturing specialist to drive process optimization and cost reduction across BIW workflows. You will apply statistical methods, coordinate quality objectives with vendors and internal teams, and design efficient equipment layouts to maximise productivity.

You will collaborate with engineering and management to set production standards, analyze schedules, and communicate design changes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or 10 years of automotive experience with BIW knowledge.
• Experience with manufacturing processes, tooling, and data reporting is required.
• Solid understanding of cost, quality, and process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Apply statistical methods to determine manufacturing processes and production standards.
• Coordinate quality objectives and activities to resolve production problems and reduce costs.
• Confer with vendors and management on purchases, specifications, and project status.
• Draft layouts of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency using drafting tools and computer.

Job Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS

• Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards.
• Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost.
• Confer with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.
• Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency, using drafting tools and computer.
• Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.
• Communicate with management and user personnel to develop production and design standards.
• Estimate production cost and effect of product design changes for management review, action, and control.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in technical related discipline or 10 years related automotive experience with sound understanding of BIW build fit & function.

WORK EXPERIENCE / TECHNICAL TRAINING: Must have an understanding in the following areas, die / die process, assembly tooling, welding & sealer applications, CMM & datum alignment, data processing & reporting, customer tolerancing concepts, working knowledge of catia V4/V5. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Project, Word. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Strong leadership skills.
