Job summary

AAM - American Axle & Manufacturing is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Technician to provide hands-on technical support for manufacturing operations. The role focuses on process improvement, troubleshooting, and equipment optimization to boost efficiency and product quality.

Responsibilities include assisting engineers with process development, calibrating and maintaining equipment, analyzing data, and supporting lean and NPI activities.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Familiarity with reading blueprints and schematics.
• Experience with data collection and analysis tools (Excel, Minitab).
• Exposure to lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.

Job Summary The Manufacturing Engineer Technician will provide technical support to manufacturing operations, focusing on process improvement, troubleshooting, and equipment optimization to enhance efficiency and product quality.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist Manufacturing Engineers in the development, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing processes.
• Perform routine calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of production equipment and machinery.
• Collect and analyze production data to identify areas for improvement and support problem-solving initiatives.
• Support the implementation of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement projects.
• Create and update manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Conduct root cause analysis for production issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with production teams to train operators on new processes and equipment.
• Participate in new product introduction (NPI) activities, including prototyping and process validation.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.

Job Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
• 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a metal powder or sintering industry.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and instrumentation.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Experience with data collection and analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Minitab).
• Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Required Skills and Education

2+ years experience in a powdered metal environment is preferred.
