Job summary

American Axle & Manufacturing is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Technician to provide hands-on technical support across the manufacturing process. The role focuses on process improvement, troubleshooting, and equipment optimization to enhance efficiency and product quality.

The position involves collaborating with engineers, performing maintenance, and participating in NPI activities to ensure safe, compliant operations and continuous improvement throughout production.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a metal powder or sintering industry.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Manufacturing Engineers in development, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing processes.
  • Perform routine calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of production equipment and machinery.
  • Collect and analyze production data to identify areas for improvement and support problem-solving initiatives.
  • Support the implementation of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement projects.
  • Create and update manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and SOPs.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for production issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with production teams to train operators on new processes and equipment.
  • Participate in new product introduction (NPI) activities, including prototyping and process validation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.

  • 2+ years experience in a powdered metal environment is preferred.
