Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Propulsion team in Commerce, CA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Level 2/3 for swing shift (9:00 am - 7:00 pm) to develop and optimize manufacturing processes for space hardware. You will review designs, manage BOMs, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet cost and quality targets.

The role requires CAD proficiency, GD&T interpretation, and knowledge of machining and welding. Preferred experience with aerospace manufacturing and Siemens NX.

Qualifications

• Two years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; an additional 4 years may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Practical application of AS9100, ISO 9001-2008, AS9145 or similar quality systems
• Proficiency with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software and reading engineering drawings with GD&T

Responsibilities

• Create and improve manufacturing processes to meet challenging hardware requirements
• Review engineering designs and drawings for accuracy and manufacturability
• Manage Manufacturing Bill of Materials through the use of MRP
• Work alongside the manufacturing teams to ensure quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved
• Communicate manufacturing plans and processes through Manufacturing Readiness Reviews
• Provide technical guidance to operations and assist supervisors on new techniques
• Create manufacturing plans and detailed work instructions
• Update Manufacturing Work Instructions on the shop floor
• Specify required special processes, equipment, and fixtures for assigned programs
• Continuously improve manufacturing methods, efficiency and product quality
• Participate in continuous improvement projects
• Assist in tool design and CAD-based tooling concepts
• Monitor quality discrepancies and implement corrective actions
• Evaluate manufacturing processes with respect to design, fabrication, and materials
