Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Level 2/3 for its Propulsion team in Commerce, CA. The role focuses on creating and improving manufacturing processes to meet stringent hardware requirements, and ensuring manufacturability from design through production.

You will review drawings, manage BOMs via MRP, and collaborate across engineering, operations, and suppliers to achieve quality, delivery, and cost objectives.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant experience with Bachelor's degree; 0+ years with Master's; additional 4 years may substitute for degree
• Lean methodologies in manufacturing/production environments including root-cause analysis (Ishikawa)
• AS9100/ISO 9001-2008/AS9145 or similar quality systems
• CAD software proficiency
• Reading engineering drawings and GD&T interpretation
• Knowledge of machining processes: lathe, milling, CNC programming
• Welding and heat-treating processes knowledge

Responsibilities

• Create and improve manufacturing processes to meet challenging hardware requirements
• Review engineering designs and drawings for manufacturability
• Manage Manufacturing BOM via MRP
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to hit quality, delivery, and cost targets
• Communicate plans and processes through Manufacturing Readiness Reviews
• Provide technical guidance and support to operations on new techniques
• Create manufacturing plans and detailed work instructions
• Update Manufacturing Work Instructions on the shop floor
• Specify special processes, equipment, and fixtures for programs
• Drive continuous improvement in methods, efficiency, and quality
• Support tooling design and CAD modeling to release tool drawings
• Monitor quality discrepancies and implement corrective actions
• Evaluate processes with CAD, tooling, and materials knowledge
