Job summary

Optivolt in San Francisco is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to translate advanced hardware designs into reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient products. You will collaborate with engineering teams, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to develop production processes and move new products from prototype to manufacturing.

Requirements include 4+ years on a production floor, electronics manufacturing experience, and strong DFx, PFMEA, and root cause analysis skills.

Qualifications

• 4+ years on a production floor in manufacturing or production engineering.
• Experience with electronics assembly, PCBA, or electromechanical products.
• Ability to develop manufacturing processes with tooling, fixtures, and quality controls.
• Experience transferring products from prototype to pilot and production.
• Familiarity with PFMEA, SPC, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Collaborates effectively with technicians, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
• Strong technical judgment and ownership on factory floor.

Responsibilities

• Turn engineering designs into repeatable manufacturing processes for electronic and electromechanical products.
• Own production readiness: work instructions, process flows, fixtures, tooling, and documentation.
• Lead pilot builds with contract manufacturers and improve production processes and quality controls.
• Drive DFM/ DFA changes with electrical, mechanical, and test engineering.
• Collaborate with manufacturing partners to lead prototype, pilot, and production builds.
• Investigate defects, yield loss, and process variability with root cause analysis.
• Improve yields, cycle time, throughput, and cost while maintaining reliability.
• Build scalable processes; support supplier qualification, automation, and scale-up.
