Job summary

Freewave in Boulder, CO seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to own and improve SMT, hand solder, test, and final assembly processes. You will lead manufacturing readiness for new product introductions, manage SMT programming and release, and collaborate with Test Engineering and Quality to improve yield and throughput.

The role focuses on process definition, root cause analysis, and practical fixes in a small, high-mix environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering or related technical discipline.
• 3+ years supporting electronics manufacturing operations including SMT and final assembly.
• Hands-on SMT process development: solder paste printing, placement, reflow, profiling.
• Experience with SMT line programming software and PM/PD control in high-mix environments.
• Familiarity with IPC-A-610, rework practices, and test program interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Own manufacturing processes and documentation for SMT, hand solder, test, final assembly.
• Lead manufacturing readiness for new product introductions, including process development and tooling.
• Own SMT line programming, release, and revision control for new products and changes.
• Partner with Test Engineering on test strategy, fixtures, and coverage improvements.
• Troubleshoot processes, yield, and quality; perform root cause analysis and CAPA.
• Design fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing aids using drawings and GD&T.
• Implement continuous improvements in yield, throughput, and cost.
• Support change control with engineering changes and documentation.
