Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer in Boston, MA to develop manufacturing solutions from early design through production ramp. You will collaborate with Product Design, Mechanical, Electrical, and Quality teams to influence design for manufacturability and scale.

Applicants bring 5+ years of experience in high‑volume manufacturing, strong SolidWorks and GD&T skills, and a hands‑on approach to fixture design, process development, and DOE studies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in product development and moderate-to-high-volume manufacturing.
• Ability to operate independently in fast-paced environments with limited oversight.
• Strong experience applying DFM, DFA, and DFX to influence product designs for manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Drive DFM, DFA, DFX to influence product designs for assembly, quality, scalability, automation, and cost.
• Develop manufacturing concepts and assembly strategies from prototypes through production.
• Design fixtures, tooling, nests, gauges, and manufacturing aids for assembly, bonding, welding, inspection, and test.
• Own fixture and tooling development from concept to release for production.
• Apply GD&T and tolerance analysis to ensure repeatable manufacturing and measurement.
• Evaluate interfaces, assembly sequences, joining methods, and tolerance stacks for manufacturability.
• Develop and qualify manufacturing processes for small electromechanical devices.
• Define critical process parameters, windows, acceptance criteria, and controls.
• Assess manual and automated assembly approaches and develop fixture/equipment concepts for automation.
• Use DOEs and failure analysis to validate designs and optimize processes.
• Troubleshoot complex product and process interactions during development and ramp.
• Collaborate with contract manufacturers, equipment vendors, and tooling suppliers to develop and qualify solutions.
• Provide hands-on technical support during prototype builds and production ramp.
• Travel up to 25% domestically/internationally for development and qualification.
