Job summary

Actalent in Horsham, PA seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to support prototype development and early-stage production builds on the shop floor, assembling, testing, and troubleshooting complex mechanical products. You will collaborate with design, production, quality, and supplier teams to improve manufacturability and create robust tooling.

The role emphasizes lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and detailed work instructions to enable scalable production as volumes grow.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field is required.
• 5+ years hands-on experience in regulated environments such as medical devices or aerospace.
• Experience designing and building assembly jigs, fixtures, and production tooling.
• Shop-floor involvement in assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Support prototype development and early-stage production builds, ensuring products are assembled, tested, and validated according to specifications.
• Work hands-on on the shop floor to assemble, test, and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electromechanical products.
• Collaborate with design, production, quality, and supplier teams to improve manufacturability and streamline build processes.
• Develop and refine assembly jigs, fixtures, and production tooling for reliable manufacturing.
• Analyze designs with SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD to improve manufacturability and ease of assembly.
• Create clear technical documentation, work instructions, and build procedures for consistent production.
• Identify root causes of build issues and implement practical solutions to reduce defects.
• Drive lean and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce waste and improve productivity.
• Partner with quality teams to meet regulatory standards in regulated environments.
• Support transition from prototype to scaled production with refined processes and tooling.
