Job summary

Siemens Energy is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join the Steam Turbine Service Operations team. You will bridge manufacturing, design engineering, project management, and the hourly workforce to develop, optimize, and execute manufacturing processes for steam turbines, from a few thousand pounds to over 200 tons.

You will drive improvements, develop tooling, create work instructions, and provide technical support for complex turbine repairs.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical writing skills to develop manufacturing instructions and procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with metalworking, machine shop equipment, milling, and basic lathe operations.
  • Experience with CAD software for layouts and tooling designs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes for steam turbine service and repair operations.
  • Create detailed work instructions and routings within SAP.
  • Design tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing aids for complex repairs.
  • Provide shop floor support and standardize processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, and training.
  • Mentor personnel on new and existing processes and estimate labor durations for planning.

We are seeking a highly motivatedManufacturing Engineerto join our Steam Turbine Service Operations team. In this role, you will serve as a critical link between manufacturing operations, design engineering, project management, and the hourly workforce to develop, optimize, and execute manufacturing processes that support customer service orders for steam turbines ranging from several thousand pounds to more than 200 tons. You will drive process improvements, develop tooling and repair methods, create detailed work instructions, and provide technical support for complex turbine repairs. This role requires adaptability as priorities may shift from long-term process improvement initiatives to urgent customer-driven manufacturing challenges.


How You’ll Make an Impact


  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing processes to support steam turbine service and repair operations. Create and maintain detailed manufacturing work instructions and routings within SAP.

  • Design, develop, and refine tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing methods to support complex repair activities. Create geometric layouts, tooling designs, and manufacturing aids utilizing CAD software.

  • Partner closely with production personnel, engineering, and project teams to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges, provide hands-on shop floor support, and implement effective solutions. Standardize manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, and training effectiveness.

  • Train and mentor manufacturing and operations personnel on new and existing processes. Estimate labor and manufacturing process durations to support project planning and quoting activities.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating current practices and recommending innovative, technically sound solutions. Collaborate professionally with internal stakeholders and customers to ensure technical requirements and delivery commitments are achieved while documenting technical findings, process changes, and improvement recommendations in a clear and thorough manner.


What You Bring


  • Bachelor’s degree inMechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

  • 3 years or more of manufacturing engineering or related hands‑on manufacturing experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of mechanical engineering principles within a manufacturing environment, including hands‑on experience with metalworking processes, machine shop equipment, hand tools, milling machines, and basic lathe operations.

  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to develop detailed manufacturing instructions and procedures, along with strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross‑functional environment and partner with production teams to troubleshoot issues and implement process improvements.

  • Proficiency with CAD software, preferablyNXorAutoCAD, and experience withTeamcenteror similar Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.

  • Experience supporting heavy industrial equipment manufacturing, repair, or service operations, including knowledge of turbine systems, power generation equipment, or rotating machinery.

  • Familiarity with SAP manufacturing systems and work instruction development, and experience with continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice versa.

  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
