Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing Engineer – Machine Build will work under the direction of the Manufacturing Manager to improve the layout, process, safety and efficiency of the build floor and staff. The position works closely with all mechanical technicians, electrical technicians, service technicians and mechanical and controls engineers to identify issues and enhancements to the overall build process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Develop, design and plan equipment and machine layouts, workflow, and safety precautions to enhance utilization of build area
•Evaluate worker productivity and recommend improvements to increase labor efficiency and operating performance, reduce waste and delays, and promote cost control/reductions
•Develop performance indicators to measure build efficiency and capacity and identify equipment and process flow bottlenecks
•Establish best practices for processes and identifies, trains and enforces safety protocols
•Resolve technical problems, utilizing other resources and staff as necessary and will recommend production improvements and quality enhancements
•Understand machine systems – mechanical, coolant, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical fundamentals, motion control optimization
•Understand build tools and technologies – inspection, calibration, predictive maintenance, machine operation
•Identify design improvement opportunities directly and from build team to improve fit, function and/or ease of assembly, capturing and communicating to engineering group through knowledge base environment on Unisig network.
•Properly document activities including drawing correction notes, inspection forms, service reports and data collection for cost analyses.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
•Associates degree or Bachelors degree in manufacturing, mechanical, industrial or other engineering disciplines plus 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing, close-tolerance industry. .
•Mechanically inclined. Experience in mechanical assembly, systems (automotive, electrical, etc.) and/or demonstrated grasp of complex mechanical assembly.
•Proficiency in Solidworks required.
•Motivated and driven to accomplish tasks in an efficient manner, with great attention to detail, a focus on quality and pride in workmanship.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
•Regularly lifts up to 25 pounds unassisted. Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds unassisted. Regular use of overhead cranes for lifts greater than 50 pounds.
•Regularly stands for 8 hours.
•Regularly bends, stoops, reaches and moves.
•Constantly required to correctly follow written and verbal instructions/prints requiring concentration and mental capability.
•Regularly utilizes precise, coordinated hand movement and hand/eye coordination.
•Regularly uses close focus and depth perception.
•The nature of the work involves contact with various metals and oils.
•Work environment is bright and temperature controlled.
