Job summary

MDS Staffing seeks a Mechanical/Welding Engineer to join our manufacturing team in Minnesota. You will apply lean principles to improve production layouts, assist in welding processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability and cost effectiveness.

The role is full-time onsite five days a week, with responsibilities spanning design reviews, fixture design, and process improvement across robotic and manual fabrication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field.
• Hands-on welding experience with stainless-steel tubes or manifolds.
• Proficiency with CAD and enterprise software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ERP, PLM).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate to enhance production layouts and line balancing.
• Provide expertise in orbital welding and sanitary tube fabrication.
• Apply lean principles to safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
• Review drawings with New Product Development for manufacturability.
• Prepare Capital Equipment requests with project teams and suppliers.
• Use PFMEA, Process Flow Diagrams, Lean, and Six Sigma.
• Maintain knowledge of regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
• Experience with Orbital Welding, GMAW, GTAW, Laser welding, and Stud welding.
