Job summary

General Motors in Grand Rapids is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join the manufacturing engineering team. You will develop, launch, maintain, and continuously improve manufacturing processes that support safe, reliable, high-quality production.

You will work closely with production, quality, maintenance, controls, design, supplier, and program teams to solve complex problems and deliver robust processes from concept through production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, mechanical, industrial, electrical, or related field.
• Experience applying engineering principles to manufacturing, production, or process improvement.
• Experience with structured problem solving and root cause analysis.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, and process docs.
• Strong analytical, communication, organization, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and improve manufacturing processes, work instructions, tooling, equipment, and production methods.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity issues.
• Use lean manufacturing, process capability, and continuous-improvement methods to improve performance.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to resolve issues and reach milestones.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, PFMEA inputs, control plans, and flow diagrams.
