Job summary

3M Ames, IA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead continuous improvement efforts, support daily operations, and drive safety, quality and cost improvements. The role requires a engineering background and strong problem solving abilities, with cross-functional collaboration across site and beyond.

The position emphasizes capital projects, NPI, and manufacturing capability enhancements, with on-site duties at the Ames facility and up to 10% travel. Relocation may be authorized.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or Science discipline.
• Experience with CI and Lean is a plus.
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement improvements related to safety, quality, service, and cost.
• Lead daily operations analyses (OEE, MOC, EHS) and resolve performance gaps.
• Initiate and lead Continuous Improvement projects across the Value Stream.
• Provide daily engineering support and capital investment justification.
• Support new product introductions and technologies to increase capability.
