Job summary

AM General seeks an experienced manufacturing engineer to design and optimize assembly processes at our Mishawaka facility. You will analyze equipment layout, workflow, and staffing to meet production goals and ensure safety and quality.

Expect to develop detailed assembly instructions and provide hands-on floor support. The role requires 2–5 years in automotive assembly, blueprints literacy, and proficiency with 3D CAD tools (Unigraphics/UGNX).

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or similar degree is required.
2-5 years in automotive assembly experience.
Must read blueprints and illustrate designs.
Experience with Unigraphics or similar 3D CAD program.
Program knowledge of SAP, PLM++, UGNX and Team Center for assembly instructions.
Proficiency with MS Office; high initiative and organizational skills.
Strong written and verbal communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

Create and maintain illustrated assembly instructions.
Provide floor support for Manufacturing.
Lead and participate in Lean Six Sigma and ISO tools in assembly.
Collaborate with multiple departments and external partners including Government representatives.
