Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer is a key contributor to Steel & O'Brien's operational success, responsible for driving innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement within our manufacturing processes for our data center cooling (DCC) business. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, enhance product quality, and ensure the highest operational standards are met. Learn more at https://www.steelobrien.com/.
Primary Functions
- Analyze and refine existing manufacturing processes to identify and implement standardized procedures that enhance production efficiency, quality, and consistency.
- Collaborate with production teams to optimize manufacturing processes
- Develop comprehensive manufacturing process documentation, including work instructions and process flow charts, to ensure consistency and quality.
- Ensure that all manufacturing operations comply with strict quality control standards, actively participating in root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective measures
- Implement manufacturing engineering services pertaining to robotic welders, T drills, auto welders, orbital welders, and fixturing to assist with fabrication, welding and polishing operations, such as design of fixtures and tooling; streamlining the build process; and incorporating automation
- Other duties as assigned
Primary Competencies

- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor CAD/CAM software
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and other continuous improvement techniques
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document processes and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, ensuring precision in all aspects of the role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for process documentation and reporting

Qualifications
- BS degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent industry experience
- Two or more years of experience in manufacturing engineering and/or continuous improvement within an industrial environment, ideally in precision manufacturing or stainless steel
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and other continuous improvement methodologies a plus
- Ability to learn and work within our Microsoft BC ERP system is required.
- Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job such as:
- Safely navigating a manufacturing environment
- Ability to use office, phone and computer equipment
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, push, pull, and twist
