Job summary

Dover is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to plan, direct and coordinate manufacturing processes, developing and improving methods using product design, materials, tooling and equipment capabilities.

You will work with design engineering to introduce new products to production, analyze workforce utilization, space, workflow, and layout for maximum efficiency, and apply lean and continuous improvement methods including Kaizen.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required with five years of related experience or 10+ years of progressive manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to apply lean principles and facilitate others on basics of continuous improvement (LEAN) using Value Stream mapping, Leadership Standard Work (LSW) and A3 facilitation.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Understanding and use of complex process methodologies to develop parts and assemblies in machining, castings or injection molding.
  • Industrial engineering skills including time motion studies, ergonomics, cycle time, takt time, JIT, etc.
  • ERP exposure with BOMs, routings, setup, queue, costing for complex bills.

Responsibilities

  • Documents manufacturing methods so others can reproduce a product with minimal knowledge.
  • Supports product design via Design for Manufacturing and Assembly concepts.
  • Collaborates with design engineering for introduction of new products to production.
  • Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and equipment layouts for maximum efficiency.
  • Consults with vendors to determine specifications and arrange purchase of equipment, materials or parts.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs.
  • Coordinates with management on capabilities, production schedules, etc., to facilitate processes.
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements.
  • RF theory and electrical-mechanical relationships may be used at higher levels.
  • Contributes to Continuous Improvement culture and learning.
  • Design and implement engineering/process solutions for increased quality, throughput and reduced costs.
  • Develop automation for assembly or testing phases.
  • Apply lean techniques to existing lines to improve quality and productivity.
  • Work with design engineers to transition improvements into buildable assemblies.
  • Support Kaizen and Lean 6Sigma initiatives.
