Job summary

SPX Technologies’ Patterson-Kelley division in East Stroudsburg, PA is offering a paid summer internship for a Manufacturing Engineer Intern. You will support continuous improvement, analyze processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

The role provides exposure to lean manufacturing, project management, and real-world initiatives with measurable results. Applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor's in a related field, have Excel proficiency, a 3.0+ GPA, and be eligible to work in the US.

Qualifications

  • Student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related technical field.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Company will not provide sponsorship for position. Must be eligible to work in US.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct time studies and work measurement analyses to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and productivity.
  • Assist in analyzing manufacturing processes, workflows, and material movement throughout the facility.
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives including 5S, Kaizen events, and waste reduction projects.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze production data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Assist with capacity analysis, labor utilization studies, and process optimization projects.
  • Participate in layout evaluations and workflow improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain standard work documentation, process maps, and SOPs.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to production issues.
  • Work with operations, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams on continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in implementing manufacturing process improvements and monitoring project results.

As the Manufacturing Engineer Intern, you will support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze manufacturing processes, collect and evaluate production data, and assist in implementing improvements that support business objectives. This role provides exposure to manufacturing engineering principles, lean manufacturing techniques, and project management while working on real-world initiatives that drive measurable results.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be :

Manufacturing Engineering & Continuous Improvement

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience and Education
  • Student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related technical field.
  • Candidates must have completed their first year of studies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Company will not provide sponsorship for position. Must be eligible to work in US.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Coursework or exposure to lean manufacturing principles.
  • Interest in manufacturing operations and process improvement
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes is a plus.

Manufacturing Environment frequently require use of foot and eye protection when in production areas.
